High Blood Pressure, otherwise known as hypertension, is a major health issue worldwide. In the UK, at least one in three adults has it, but the majority are unaware of this and the associated risks.
It's known as the 'Silent Killer' because there are few obvious symptoms, even though it can cause serious harm to the body. For Example, it's the main cause leading to stroke, heart disease and kidney disease. It is also closely associated with dibetes and can be the key factor in leading to one of the more extreme side-effects of that condition, blindness.
Proton offers both wrist and upper-arm blood pressure monitors for regular testing at home, or even at work. As well as blood pressure, patients can see their pulse or heart rate measurement. Since symptoms of hypertension are not necessarily clear, it can only really be detected by conducting tests at regular intervals.
